Thousands attend community egg drop in Pikeville

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Folks lined up hours before the gates opened at 4:00 Friday afternoon at Bob Amos Park.

Event organizers say this year's event was more crowded than last year's which had more than 3,000 in attendance.

Dusty Stanley with Trinity Harvest Church says, "The line formed around 2:30, a lot of things going on. At about 6:30 the helicopter will drop eggs and the hunt will begin."

The anticipation grew as folks waited for the helicopter to hover over the field at and release thousands of plastic easter eggs from the sky.

The free event put on by Trinity Harvest Church included inflatables, face painting, live music, and the main event...the egg hunt where there was 20,000 eggs to be found.
