PIKEVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - Monday marked the first day of classes for undergraduate students at the University of Pikeville.

UPike officials say they are thrilled to have everyone back on campus and get the year underway....their fifth straight year with record enrollment numbers.

President James Hurley says he has already heard folks in the community saying they are also happy to have the students back on campus.

Hurley says, "He said, 'It is great... I was walking to work this morning and all the UPike kids were just buzzing around.' It is exciting when you live in a college community and a college town, to see the kids, and the youth..especially the freshmen."

To add to the excitement of the first day of class, President Hurley confirmed that Einstein Brothers Bagels, POD Market, and Chick-Fil-A are all coming to Pikeville and will be located in UPike's new health education building, which is set to open in 2016.
