It was first called out as a report of domestic violence, but then police say a man fired shots at them, before barricading himself inside a home.
Now, that man, 21-year-old Chris Harris, is facing several charges after Richmond Police arrested him.
The standoff happened late Wednesday night at Harris' grandfather's home on Lowell Avenue.
Police say it started after Harris struck his grandfather in the head with a can of soda during an argument.
The grandfather then left the home and called police.
When Richmond Police approached the home, officers say they noticed Harris had a handgun. They say he then shot through the front window at one of the officers.
The officer was not hit.
Members of the Emergency Response Unit were then called out during the standoff. They were able to make phone contact with Harris.
We're told Harris peacefully surrendered around 1 Thursday morning.
Harris is now at the Madison County Detention Center. He's charged with fourth degree assault, wanton endangerment, and attempted murder of a police officer.
He denied a request for an interview.
Harris' bond has been set at $100,000.
