Two people arrested after bad checks passed at charity bingo

Two people now face charges after police say they passed eleven bad checks at a charity bingo.

Richmond Police arrested 21 year-old Justin A. Richardson and 20 year-old Katherine Parker, both of Richmond, and charged them with forgery.

Police say the bad checks, worth more than $1,400, were passed between August 6 and August 11 at Waco's Jackpot Charity Bingo in Madison County.

Police say Richardson passed six checks worth $690 to various organizations holding bingo games and Parker passed five checks worth $775.

Police say the checks identified accounts held with two different credit unions. They later found out those accounts were fake.

"Thank God we had some vigilant off duty police officers volunteering. They saw it and brought it to our attention and pretty much put a stop to it," says President of Madison County's Fraternal Order of Police Rodney Richardson. Rodeny Richardson's charitable organization lost about $300 in donations from bad checks.

Richardson faces six counts of forgery, while Parker faces five counts. Police say they expect more charges to be filed.

Any business or organization that received one of the forged checks is asked to call Detective Sgt. Rodney Richardson with the Richmond Police Department at 859-623-8911.
