Police ask for help in copper wire theft case

Kentucky State Police have asked for the public's help in finding those responsible for a string of copper wire thefts in the Berea area.

Police say thieves have been stealing wires from many buildings during the nighttime hours.

Investigators say the thieves may use a utility type vehicle, capable of lifting a person high enough into the air to cut the wires.

While investigating the most recent theft, police say witnesses indicated a boom type truck was in the area. No further description of that vehicle was given.

Kentucky State Police ask anyone in the Berea area who sees anything suspicious, including a utility or boom type vehicle outside of normal work hours, to call them at 1-800-222-5555.

Police ask for a description of the vehicle with the license plate number, if possible.
