Burglars steal money, dozens of cigarette cartons from store

Police say burglars caused thousands of dollars in damage at a Richmond convenience store Wednesday morning.

Richmond Police were called to the Redi Mart on Lexington Road just before 3:30 a.m.

When they arrived, officers say they found one of the store's doors had been pried open. Police say they didn't see anyone inside.

Police then noticed several cash registers and an ATM machine had been damaged, and several wires on the exterior wall of the store had been cut. Damages to the store's building and equipment are estimated to be $15,000.

Police say the burglars also stole 44 cartons of Marlboro cigarettes and a small amount of money.
