Police charge 17-year-old with violent robbery

A 17-year-old now faces charges for a robbery in Richmond that turned violent.

Richmond Police arrested the suspect Monday.

Police say the victim refused, and the suspect tried to take the money anyway.

The victim then ran down Merrick Drive, trying to escape the suspect.

Police say the suspect then caught up to the victim on Richmond Green Drive, and a fight between the two broke out.

The victim suffered a minor injury to his left eye.

Police say the suspect then stole $100 from the victim, along with his book bag.

The 17-year-old suspect is charged with first degree robbery. He was lodged in the Fayette County Juvenile Detention Center.
