EKU officials: Recent robbery victims had been involved in illegal activity

Officials at Eastern Kentucky University now say some people who claimed they had been robbed on campus in November had been involved in illegal activity at the time of their reports.

On November 2, EKU officials issued a public safety alert after an alleged robbery in the Keene Hall Parking Lot.

After investigating, EKU officials say the people who reported being robbed had been involved in "illegal activity" at the time.

Officials say suspects have been identified in this case, and warrants for their arrests have been issued. EKU officials say the case remains open.

On November 12, EKU officials issued another public safety alert following an alleged robbery in the Commonwealth Hall parking lot.

After investigating, EKU officials say they found the reporting parties were also involved in "illegal activity."

Officials say the alleged suspect did not have a knife during the incident, and the reporting parties actually fabricated the details about the alleged robbery.

The alleged victim has now been charged with falsely reporting an incident to police. EKU Police have closed this case.
