RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - A woman faces charges after Richmond Police say she was part of a multi-state shoplifting ring.
Police arrested 52-year-old Patricia L. Snowdy, of Westland, Michigan, at the JC Penney in the Richmond Centre last Tuesday.
Store employees detained Snowdy, after police say she tried to leave the store without paying for more than $900 worth of draperies.
Police say a man with Snowdy dropped a bag and left the store as employees were detaining Snowdy.
Police say that bag had $890 in merchandise in it, that had been stolen from another JC Penney store.
While investigating, police say they found Snowdy was part of a group that was traveling through several states and shoplifting merchandise from JC Penney stores, and then returning the items for refunds.
Police say Snowdy also had two fake Texas driver's licenses with alias names.
Police charged Snowdy with theft by unlawful taking over $500, and criminal possession of a forged instrument.
Snowdy was lodged in the Madison County Detention Center.
