Funeral Services have been set for a Kentucky Army National Guard soldier, found dead in Afghanistan. Sgt. Randy A. Sigley Jr. will be remembered Sunday, April 25th at 1:30 p.m. at the Lebanon Baptist Church located at 144 East Mulberry St., Lebanon. Interment will be in the Lebanon National Cemetery with full military honors.
Visitation will be held Saturday from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Bosley Funeral Home located at 246 South Proctor Knott Ave., Lebanon. Sunday visitation will be held from 7:00 to 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
Sigley's roommate found the 28-yer-old dead in his bunk April 18. He was on duty with the Kentucky Army National Guard's 2123rd Transportation Company at the Bagram Airbase in Afghanistan. An investigation is underway into what caused Sigley's death, it was not combat related.
A member of the Kentucky Army National Guard since 2006, Sigley was in the United States Marine Corps from 2000 to 2004. He served a tour of duty in Afghanistan with the Marines.
Sigley is survived by his mother, Mrs. Rhonda L. Hardin, his stepfather, Alton A. Hardin and his sister, Kristin Mattingly. In lieu of flowers for the funeral service, Sigley's family has requested that donations be made to the Kentucky National Guard Memorial Fund, Inc., PO Box 5466, Frankfort, KY 40602-5466.
