Arrest made for violent robbery at clothing store

An arrest has been made for an armed robbery at a central Kentucky clothing store.

Richmond Police have arrested 35-year-old Tanu Kenya Dyer, of Lexington, and charged him with complicity to commit robbery.

The robbery happened just after 7 Tuesday night at JaRu's New Fashions on Red House Road.

Two employees of the store told police three men entered the store, and then demanded money after a brief dispute.

Police say one of the suspects was armed with an assault rifle type weapon, which was used to hit one of the employees.

Police say another suspect used a taser or stun gun type device on the other employee.

Police say after getting some money, two of the suspects ran off, while the third took off in a dark Pontiac Aztek.

A Richmond police officer later stopped that vehicle on I-75 north of Richmond.

Police say the driver was Dyer. They say he was then identified as the suspect who used the taser or stun gun.

Dyer is now being held in the Madison County Detention Center.

Police are still looking for the other two suspects. The employees were not seriously hurt.
