Team work among police agencies led to a quick end to the search for a suspect after a bank robbery.

Someone held up the Fifth-Third Bank on Pleasant Ridge Drive just after ten Friday morning. The bank is located across from the Hamburg Pavilion Shopping Center.

Police say a Kelly Scott Wooten, 40, of Lexington was wearing sunglasses, when he walked into the bank and handed the teller a note. He implied he had a weapon. Wooten got away with an undisclosed amount of cash in a silver Acura.

A bank employee actually followed Wooten in his car and was able to provide police with enough information to track down the getaway car, twenty miles away in Madison County.

Kentucky State Police stopped the a car, near the 84-mile marker on I-75. Where they took Wooten and his girlfriend Cassaundra Rutledge, 33, of Powder Springs, GA into custody.

After police questioned Rutledge, who claimed she had no knowledge of the robbery, she was released.

Police charged Wooten with first degree robbery, he's being held in the Fayette County Jail.
