Baptist Health Richmond expands services to include medical stabilization

Baptist Health Richmond is pleased to announce it has expanded its services to offer medical stabilization beginning January 30. NewVision™ is a service operated through a partnership with Baptist Health Richmond and SpecialCare Hospital Management Corporate of St. Louis, Mo.
The partnership will expand Baptist Health Richmond’s current inpatient medical services to offer inpatient medical stabilization for patients facing alcohol and substance abuse issues.
“Alcohol and drug abuse is a growing problem throughout the country, and it was identified as a major need in this region during our Community Health Needs Assessment last year. We are excited about being able to offer a service that may offer help and hope to so many people and families in central Kentucky,” said Jill Williams, Director of Marketing and Public Relations.
NewVision™ accepts appropriate patients who experience incapacitation due to substance use and/or abuse or acute withdrawal symptoms. The service consists of a medically supervised hospital stay for inpatient stabilization which typically lasts 3 to 5 days. The inpatient stay includes the following aspects:
• Pre-Screening
• Assessment
• Admission
• Medical Stabilization
• Appropriate Discharge Planning
• Referrals to rehabilitation and counseling services
The New Vision™ service has a fully qualified treatment team which includes hospital physicians and nursing staff who utilize a multi-disciplinary team approach in the individualized treatment of each patient. Upon admission to the hospital, the patient is assessed and a medical history, physical, a complete laboratory workup and a nursing assessment are accomplished. Patients, who are under the influence of chemical substances and / or other medical co morbidities, will be closely observed and stabilized. The hospital accepts appropriate patients who are experiencing problems and incapacitation due to substance use and/or abuse, or are experiencing acute withdrawal symptoms from cessation or use of certain substances.
The service accepts most Insurance, Medicaid and Medicare plans. For additional information contact New Vision at
