Officials in Richmond have stopped using inmates at its recycling center - at least for the time being.
The Richmond Register reports the move comes after an inmate assigned to work at the center didn't return to jail. Deputy Willard Reardon says 23-year-old Brian Isaacs was caught Sunday in Richmond after walking away on March 8.
City Manager Jimmy Howard told commissioners on Tuesday that the center would operate without inmates for now. He says his assistant is spending time at the center this week to see whether changes should be made.
