We looked through court records and uncovered some information about Matthew Denholm's past. Denholm is accused of shooting two people, killing one of them, at an apartment in Berea Monday morning.

Those records show his wife filed a Domestic Violence Order or DVO earlier this year.

In that protective order she claimed, "Matthew came home drunk at 7:30 a.m. and became mad that I had taken our daughter to kindergarten because he was not home to do so."

She went on to say, while nursing their son on the couch, Matthew, "Started kicking his toys and screaming he should have taken her to school. I stated he didn't need to drive drunk."

That's when she claims he got physically violent, saying he started to, "Choke me and grab at my jaw bone saying he would break it."

"The baby was trying to get out from between us and he was pushing his knee into baby's back saying, I can't use the baby as a shield," she said

Denholm was forced to undergo drug and alcohol treatment and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD treatment at Lexington's VA Hospital.

The army veteran served in Afghanistan.

A former co-worker of Denholm's, at the Bluegrass Army Depot says Denholm was a bit of a loner. He talked exclusively to NEWSFIRST, and asked we hide his identity.

"He was just kind of an individual, I guess we call it in the military," he said. "Just real weirded out."

He claims Denholm was fired from the Depot. A spokesman would only confirm Denholm worked there from 2008 to 2009.
