A big welcome home Friday for a Kentucky National Guard Unit that's spent close to a year in Afghanistan.
The soldiers of the 2123rd Transportation Company were reunited with friends and family at a ceremony in Richmond.
The soldiers arrived late Friday morning, where they had a short time to speak with loved ones before the welcome home ceremony began.
It was a emotional homecoming for many people.
Hundreds of people were on hand to greet the soldiers.
One wife had a special request.
"I told him I wanted that World War II photo of the sailor kissing the nurse, I wanted that dramatic kiss when he comes off the bus, so I hope you get it," Laura Snowden, the wife of a soldier, said.
The unit left Kentucky last March for Afghanistan.
Several soldiers received Combat Action Badges and Purple Hearts during this deployment.
