Police arrested a man who they say was driving drunk with kids in the car.
Richmond Police arrested 29-year old Kelly Royalty for wanton endangerment.
It started at Glenn Marshall Elementary School. Police were called to investigate a report of a suspect drunk driver.
As officers approached the school, they spotted the suspect's vehicle leaving the school grounds and turning on the the Robert R. Martin Bypass.
Officers caught up to the vehicle, and attempted to make a traffic stop. As officers did that, the driver ran into the back of another vehicle.
Police say the driver, identified as Royalty, was under the influence of an intoxicant.
Officers found two children in the vehicle, both under the age of 12, that had been picked up at the school. The children were released to their parents.
Royalty is charged with careless driving, d.u.i., wanton endangerment and no possession of driver's license. A bench warrant from the Madison District Court for Failure to Appear was also served on Royalty at the time of his arrest.
