RICHMOND, Ky. – Eastern Kentucky University men’s basketball head coach Jeff Neubauer has announced that guard Dominique Hagans signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Colonels in 2012-13.
Hagans, a 6-3 guard from Lexington, Ky., is currently enrolled at Southeastern Illinois College, under head basketball coach Joshua Ervin.
“Dominique is another local product who will have a positive impact on our program,” Neubauer said. “It is always a great thing to have young men from the Commonwealth join the EKU basketball family. Dominique’s family played a major role in his decision to come home to EKU. He has great speed, plays very unselfishly, and is the type of young man and player who makes everyone around him better.”
In 2010-11, Hagans was named the Great Rivers Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year. The guard finished second on the team in scoring (16.4 ppg) while ranking among the junior college national leaders in both steals (3.0 spg) and assists (5.5 apg). He was recently rated the 53rd best junior college player by Rivals Juco Junction.
Hagans graduated from Lafayette High where he helped lead the Generals to a 22-7 overall record and the 11th Region championship game in 2010.
Eastern Kentucky (1-2) continues its opening eight-game road swing this coming weekend at Liberty. The Colonels face host Liberty (Nov. 18), William & Mary (Nov. 19) and Lehigh (Nov. 20) to conclude the 2K Sports Classic.
