Daniela Gaskie spoke publicly for the first time Wednesday about violating her plea agreement.
"I just reacted, my store just got robbed," says Gaskie.
She had agreed to stay away from her husband's store and stop carrying a gun after entering a guilty plea for assaulting a gas station attendant and a pharmacist back in September. Less than a day after signing that agreement, three men burglarized their store, Sling Point Firearms.
"It was never my intent to violate anything. I'm sorry for this. Had I known I would be in this position I wouldn't have gone in there. I would have just helped out by phone."
Judge Brandy Brown put Gaskie in jail until her husband could arrange for her to stay in a behavioral treatment facility for at least seven days. The Madison County Detention Center tells us Gaskie was incarcerated for less than 20 minutes. She's now getting around the clock treatment in Lexington.
"I'm trying to do everything in compliance," says Gaskie, "everything I'm supposed to do."
