Former police officer indicted for child porn

The Kentucky Attorney General announced Wednesday a grand jury has indicted a former Richmond Police officer for possession of child pornography.

The grand jury returned the indictment Wednesday for 36-year-old James Rogers. It charges him with 10 counts of possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor.

Cybercrimes investigators, with assistance from Kentucky State Police, arrested Rogers on Tuesday at his Richmond home following the execution of a search warrant. Rogers is currently in the Madison County Detention Center on a $100,000 bond.

The Attorney General's Office says the charges against Rogers stem from an undercover investigation that began on November 19, 2011.

Rogers will be in Madison Circuit Court January 12, 2012 to answer to the charges.
