Former police officers file federal lawsuit

RICHMOND, Ky. (AP) - Three former Richmond police officers have
filed suit following their March acquittal of charges relating to a
sexual incident.
The Richmond Register reports James J. Rogers, Garry Murphy and
Brian Hensley are suing a number of people in U.S. District Court
in Lexington.
Named defendants are the Madison County sheriff, a
commonwealth's attorney and an assistant and a number of others,
including named persons and several John and Jane Does.
Rogers, Murphy and Hensley were found not guilty of intimidation
or witness tampering.
Their lawsuit says they committed no crime by the group sex
encounter with a woman.
Among their claims are malicious prosecution, conspiracy to
violate civil rights and abuse of criminal process.
