FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - The celebration continued Tuesday for the Madison Central Indians.
The boys basketball team claimed their first state championship, winning the KHSAA Boys Sweet 16 on Sunday.
Since Sunday, Madison Central High School and all of Madison County have been celebrating that state title. And on Tuesday, it was mentioned on the senate floor in Frankfort.
Legislatures from across Kentucky honored them and applauded their first state championship win.
"I'm just super proud of you. And we appreciate you being here today, and I hope you continue to represent Madison County and yourselves very well," said a legislature on the senate floor.
And now these young boys and their accomplishment together as a team will always be remembered.
"This resilient basketball team will forever be recorded as one of the most special teams to ever win a state championship and are worthy of public recognition."
The Madison Central High School Lady Indians will make their way to the KHSAA Sweet 16 tournament starting Thursday.
