RICHMOND, Ky. (WKYT) - The death of a Richmond couple is still under investigation, officials are treating the case as a double murder.
Police say Karen Simpson, 46, and Avery Evans, 42, were found dead inside their Valley Street home late Friday night.
"They were good people. I knew them. It was a tragedy to hear how they went," said Marcus Ray, a friend of the victims.
Neighbors say what happened at the home is an anomaly, because this area is usually very quiet.
"It's something I would see more in Louisville than Richmond," explained Gyasi Spots, a neighbor of the victims.
While the cause of the death is under investigation and an autopsy report is pending, officials are confident the couple was killed.
"There's no question about it. Someone took their lives," said Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison.
Police say they have no suspects at this time.
Coroner Cornelison expects to get the autopsy results this week.
