Richmond Police charged 35-year-old Danny Thomas, Jr. for two offenses in connection with failure to control his canine. Police say they were first called to Thomas' neighborhood, on N. Estill Avenue, Thursday. Police say a pit bulldog running loose in the neighborhood had bitten a pedestrian. The canine was taken into custody by the Madison County Animal Shelter; however it was released to the owner, Thomas, on Friday.
Friday night police say they were called back to the same area on N. Estill Avenue to investigate a report that the same pit bull was running loose and attacking other animals in the area. Police say the dog also chased the officers when they arrived to investigate the complaint. Officers say Thomas was ultimately identified as the owner of the dog and restrained it.
Richmond Police cited Thomas for harboring a vicious animal and violating the city’s leash law by allowing the dog to run loose and unrestrained.
