Richmond Police arrested a couple late Wednesday afternoon after an off-duty officer reported seeing a woman asleep behind the wheel of a vehicle parked at the CVS on East Main Street. Police say that woman, 26-year-old Sheena Damrell, was under the influence of an intoxicant, other than alcohol.
Police say a 3-year-old was in a car seat in the rear of the vehicle. The determined Damrell had driven the vehicle to the store. She reportedly told officers her husband, 36-year-old Dennis Conley, was inside the CVS. When police found him they say he, too, was under the influence of an intoxicant other than alcohol.
When police searched Damrell’s purse they say they found a plastic wrapper containing six methadone tablets, three oxycodone tablets, and six Xanax pills.
Richmond Police charged Damrell and Conley with public intoxication and wanton endangerment. Police also charged Damrell with possession of a controlled substance. Police say the child was released to an adult relative.
