A man accused of shooting two people in Berea, killing one of them, is now in custody.
Police arrested 27-year-old Matthew Denholm in Louisville Monday afternoon. Police tell us they tracked Denholm through his cell phone.
The shooting happened at an apartment on Chestnut Street around 7:30 Monday morning.
One man died at the scene. Police say the second man was shot in the stomach and taken to UK Hospital.
Police say Denholm and the victims had some type of altercation last night in the parking lot of the apartment building where the shooting happened.
Police say Denholm used two different weapons in the shooting.
"We know that he's armed with a shotgun, and armed with a hand gun," Capt. Ken Clark of Berea Police said. "There's also a possibility he has some high-powered rifles, and possibly a bulletproof vest."
Berea College officials confirm Denholm is not currently an employee of the college, but he did work as a safety officer there at one time. The shooting happened at an apartment building near the college.
Police say Denholm also once worked as a security officer at the Blue Grass Army Depot.
We're told the victims were roommates, and were working on careers as recording artists together. They were not students at Berea College.
Five Madison County schools, all in Berea, were on lockdown as a precaution following the shooting. Those lockdowns have since been lifted.
