The roads are clear for the most part in Richmond, but it's still a very cold night. Not the best for being outside, even though quite a few people are braving the weather.
Many travelers say they started the day slow and cautious. Steve Wazgar was on the interstate. "I appreciated people were driving with courtesy; stayed in their lane. You had to go slow."
Road crews got an early start clearing Madison County roads, which, like most in the area, were covered in ice and drifting snow.
Some Christmas shoppers in Richmond braved the weather for the gifts on their list. "It is better than yesterday. I went out last night and promptly turned around" said Angie Thompson. "I had to get it done and today was my last day."
The bitter cold delayed classes on the EKU campus, where students are finishing up finals. Hillary House had a tough time getting to class. "Very cold, very slippery, but luckily my class was not too far from my dorm but it was definitely cold."
