They hope it shocks people into keeping alcohol out of the wrong hands. Several different police agencies and a team of kids with "Madison County Youth in Action" paid a visit some to liquor stores in the Richmond area.
They place stickers on packages of alcohol. It's part of the annual "Sticker Shock Program." The stickers remind shoppers that it's illegal for adults to buy alcohol for minors. They also mention the penalty for that offense.
The Madison County Youth in Action Team is made up of Madison County middle school, high school and college student volunteers.
Funding for the program is provided by an Enforcement of Underage Drinking Laws grant.
