Richmond Police arrested three people Wednesday morning after discovering a meth lab in an apartment on Water Street.
Officers arrested Mark Rison, Carrie Kelly and Karen Kates.
"I was awoken about 3:00 this morning," says apartment neighbor Tim Williams, "They made everyone evacuate the building."
That's because police were there following up on a complaint, and found two one-step meth labs in the apartment.
"I didn't smell anything funny but kind of felt there was something going on suspicious because there was a lot of traffic going in and out at 3:30 or 4:00 in the morning," Williams says.
And early Wednesday morning, police say two of those visitors were Mark Rison and Carrie Kelly. Officers arrested them along with Karen Kates, who lives in the apartment. Police charged all three with manufacturing methamphetamine.
"I mean, that could have exploded, burned the building down, and I wouldn't have anywhere to go," says Williams.
He says Kates only lived there for about three weeks, but it was long enough to create some concern.
"No more worries there, no more being woken up at 3:00 in the morning."
Although the people who live in the building were forced out for several hours overnight, everyone was able to go back home later in the morning.
