During routine inspections, chemical crews detected that a GB round had developed a vapor leak.
The release was detected by a mobile monitoring laboratory during routine analysis of the atmosphere within the storage structure known as an “igloo.”
The release is fully contained within the igloo and is not present in the air outside the igloo. As a safety precaution, a powered filter has been connected to the igloo to ensure the leak does not enter the outside atmosphere.
Madison County and the Commonwealth of Kentucky Emergency Management Agencies as well as the Kentucky Department of Environmental Protection were kept informed during operations. The community and environment were never at risk.
