Somerset Police have not yet made an arrest after a murder took place early Saturday morning.
At 1:44 AM Saturday morning, officers went to 555 McKee Street to speak to 72-year-old Homer Carrender, about finding his car a short distance from his apartment.
Police found Carrender dead inside his apartment. His body was sent to Frankfort for an autopsy. The Pulaski County Coroner says results showed Carrender died from stab wounds to the chest, and blunt force trauma to the head.
Police say they have a person of interest in the case, but are not releasing the identity of that person at the time.
Family and friends say Carrender was a good man and a good friend.
27 NEWSFIRST spoke to Carrender's sister, Christene Black, who says she can't believe anyone would want to harm Carrender.
Neighbor's say Carrender was a friendly face around the apartment complex. They say he would often do nice things for others, like giving his next-door-neighbor a ride to the grocery store when she needed one.
