Somerset police have arrested two people for the weekend murder of a 72-year old man. Homer Carrender's body was found Saturday morning at her apartment on McKee Street, police say he was beaten and stabbed to death.
Monday night police arrested 26-year old Rafael Robsinson for murder and robbery and his 45-year old aunt, Peggy Mina, for complicity to commit murder and complicity to commit robbery.
Police say they were able to connect the two to the crime after pulling over a vehicle Robinson was driving early Saturday morning on McKee Street. They say he was driving Carrender's vehicle without its headlights on. Police arrested Robinson at that time for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, driving on a suspended license, and drug charges. He was also charged with theft.
When the arrested officers went to Carrender’s apartment to let him know his car had been stolen they found him dead. Police say Carrender had been stabbed and beaten with a steel pipe.
Both murder weapons were later found in a dumpster near Robinson's apartment. Items stolen from Carrender's apartment were also found in Robinson's possession. Robinson and Mina are being held in the Pulaski county detention center on no bond.
