Due to the large number of weather-related school closings throughout Southern and Eastern Kentucky, The Center for Rural Development is extending the deadline for students to apply for Rogers Scholars and the Entrepreneurial Leadership Institute (ELI).
Jessica Melton, associate director of education and training, said the application deadline for both youth leadership programs has been extended until Friday, Feb. 5, to give students five additional days to complete the paperwork to apply for the 2010 summer sessions.
Applications for both programs have been posted online and may be downloaded and printed from the Rogers Scholars Web site at www.rogersscholars.com or The Center for Rural Development’s Web site at www.centertech.com, where visitors can find the application form for ELI.
All applications must be printed on paper, completed, and mailed to The Center for Rural Development at 2292 South Highway 27, Suite 300, Somerset, Ky. 42501. Applications must be postmarked by the Feb. 5 extended deadline to be considered by the selection committee.
Rogers Scholars—The Center’s flagship youth program—is an intensive one-week summer session for rising high school juniors. ELI is open to high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors interested in becoming the region’s next generation of business leaders and entrepreneurs.
Both programs focus on developing business and entrepreneurial skills, and encourage participants to ultimately use those skills in positions of leadership in Southern and Eastern Kentucky.
