A young child has lost his life following an awful accident late Wednesday night in Pulaski County.
Two other children in the SUV and a woman were taken to the hospital following the crash on U.S. 27 near Lost Lodge Road, near Burnside.
Burnside Police say an officer was on regular patrol when he drove up on the accident and noticed a woman crawling for help.
Investigators believe 25-year-old Michelle Black's Toyota 4Runner ran off the road and hit an embankment.
Her son, 5-year-old Gabriel Black, died at the scene. He was a Kindergarten student at Burnside Elementary School.
"I guess God needed another little angel with him," cried neighbor Pauline Smith. "I used to watch him get off the bus every afternoon to make sure he was OK. He was a wonderful boy."
Gabriel's two younger sisters, 3-year-old Cameron and 1-year-old Riley, were also in the car.
One of the little girls was airlifted to U.K. Hospital.
Neighbors say Michelle Black and her husband, Brandon, are in the process of splitting up. They say she may have been picking up the children when the accident happened.
City leaders say there have been a number of accidents at U.S. 27 and Lost Lodge Road. They say they're hopeful this accident may finally prompt the state to make a change. They've suggested adding a light.
