Golden Dragon Acrobats to perform at the next 'Center Stage'

Combining more than 25 centuries of tradition with contemporary Cirque Du Soleil-style touches of theatricality, the Golden Dragon Acrobats will amaze the Center Stage audience on May 13 at The Center for Rural Development in Somerset.

Directed by world-renowned impresario Danny Chang and choreographer Angela Chang, China’s premier acrobatic touring company will present a spectacular show of amazing skill and spellbinding beauty that will entertain guests of all ages.

Set to begin at 7:30 p.m., Golden Dragon Acrobats Cirque D’or is the last of five scheduled seasonal performances in the 2009-10 Center Stage performing arts series presented by Lake Cumberland Performing Arts in partnership with The Center.

“We definitely have saved the best for last. The Golden Dragon Acrobats represent the best of a time-honored tradition that began more than 25 centuries ago, which over its long and rich history has developed as one of the most popular art forms among the Chinese people,” Dianna Winstead, associate director of arts and culture for The Center, said.

Under the casting direction of Asian Artists Productions Inc., home of the Golden Dragon Acrobats, the Texas-based company is committed to providing the highest of production values and an attention to artistic details that is unparalleled in the art form.

Performers are actors, athletes, and artists—all with an unmistakable love for their art and sharing it with audiences all over the world. The show combines award-winning acrobatics, costumes, traditional dance, ancient and contemporary music, and theatrical techniques to present a mesmerizing performance of skill and beauty.
