City officials in Somerset are again considering a smoking ban.
Officials passed the first reading of an ordinance this week that would ban smoking in public areas that are enclosed, including stores and restaurants, the Commonwealth Journal reported.
The city considered the issue in 2008, but tabled it after a public meeting on the measure didn't attract a lot of interest.
Several council members told the newspaper they have yet to decide on they will vote during the second reading of the ordinance.
Somerset Mayor Eddie Girdler said he expected the second reading to include lots of discussion and possible changes to the proposal.
