The National Weather Service has confirmed that a tornado touched down in Pulaski County yesterday. They say it traveled for more than 1.5 miles, destroying a barn and damaging houses throughout the area.
"It really was a nice barn," explains Winford Phelps, who worked at the barn off highway 635. "I was there all day and had just left for an hour when the storm came through." The storm ripped shingles off of houses, toppled over trees and even busted in some windows. However, the most significant damage in the area was to the barn Phelps works at off highway 635. "It tore it up pretty bad, scattered it everywhere, I was nervous it had killed some of the cattle inside but luckily they got out ok."
Pulaski County Emergency Management official Tiger Robinson says most of the damage in Pulaski county was around the Science Hill area.
