SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - Family and friends will say a final goodbye Wednesday to two victims of a triple murder.
Someone shot and killed Michael and Angela Hockensmith during a robbery last Friday at their Danville business, ABC Gold, Games and More.
The Hockensmiths' funeral is Wednesday afternoon in Somerset.
"They were beautiful people," said Tony Hockensmith, the victim's brother.
"It's more than losing a brother," said Tim Lewis, the victim's stepbrother. "I'm losing my best friend."
At Tuesday night's visitation, it was a time of mourning but also a time of celebrating the lives of Michael and Angela Hockensmith. These two innocent people were killed Friday while working in a thrift store they co-owned together in Danville.
"It's been kind of hard to sleep because when I go to sleep, I keep thinking about what he went through in that last moment," said Lewis.
News of this tragedy has traveled across the country. People also traveled that far to be at their visitation, where the shock of it all is fading.
"For a lot of us, it has taken some time," said Tony Hockensmith. "And it's finally sunk in, and I think today a lot of realities came."
Among the hundreds who attended, the majority was friends and family. But there were several who say they barely knew the couple at all but felt like they needed to pay their respects.
"They lived, I think, the way you should live," said Katherine Hall, who attended the visitation in Somerset. "And they were helpful and would just help you do anything."
There was one common theme amongst those attending this service and that was reassurance that they are now in a better place.
"They're in heaven. They're looking down," said Tony Hockensmith. "And they're rejoicing, and they're smiling."
The visitation for the other victim, Daniel Smith, is Wednesday at Combs, Parsons and Collins Funeral Home in Richmond. Smith's funeral is scheduled for Thursday.
