Husband is shot by police after he allegedly kills his wife

It was a violent day that some admit they saw coming.

Family members say Timmy and Mary Hislope had trouble before and Thursday morning, she called 911 screaming for help.

Two troopers responded to their door that she answered but police say before they could act, he took her back inside and shot her.

“I knew in my heart that something was going to happen. I was afraid it was going to be him,” Loren tarter said.

Police say Tim Hislope then came outside and pointed a gun at them. They returned fire, hitting him in the stomach. Mary Hislope was found dead inside.

“She was a good caring, person, would go out of her way to help someone in need,” George Gilmore said.

The Pulaski County Sheriff confirms that domestic violence was a problem here, he says deputies were called here on several occasions.

Court records show two EPO’s against Hislope, one in 2007 that Mary Hislope signed and later dismissed and one from a separate woman in 1998. Both detailed alleged threats. Yet, family on both sides says the occasional rough relationship wasn’t what defined the couple.

We were told that Timmy Hislope was taken to a Lexington hospital, but we have not been able to find out about his condition since.
