MONTICELLO, Ky. (WYMT) - Memorial day weekend is upon us and for many it is the kick-off for lake season.
The Commonwealth Journal Reports, water levels at Lake Cumberland are about 20 feet higher than they have been in six years.
Officials say certain areas that have not been underwater in years now have a lot of plant growth that could cause problems if boaters are not careful.
They say alcohol could cause boating accidents as well.
Rules for driving a boat are the same as a car, do not drink and drive.
