SOMERSET, Ky. (WKYT) - Troy McAninch, 23, is charged with first degree assault because police say an argument between he and another driver got so heated...he resorted to gunfire.
Police say McAninch was upset with the driver of the semi-truck, Luster Rose, 45, and claimed that Rose tailgated him then passed him. And when they stopped at the light on Ky. 1247, police say McAninch went up to the passenger side cab and yelled at Rose. Rose got out with a club..the two men had a heated angry dispute that’s when McAninch allegedly shot Rose 4 times.
“The simple fact of the matter is..we can’t have people who take matters in their own hands,” said Pulaski Co. Sheriff Todd Wood.
Those who called 911 are also heard trying to help the victim.
“Is he breathing,” the dispatcher asks.
“Yes he is breathing,” he caller says.
Police say McAninch did surrender the weapon..and himself moments after the gunfire.
“Where is the man that shot him?” the dispatcher asks.
“He is standing right here with his pistol,” the caller says.
“He’s standing over him with the pistol?” she asks.
“He laid it down beside the vehicle, ma’am,” he says.
McAninch pleaded not guilty to the charges in court Friday morning...and the judge gave him a $25,000 cash bond.
