One dead after overnight crash in Pulaski County

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - 6:30am Update:

Dispatchers tell us Highway 39 is back open.

Original story:

We are following some breaking news out of Southern Kentucky. We are told a busy highway is closed, hours after a deadly crash.

It happened around midnight Wednesday morning on Highway 39, about six miles north of Somerset in Pulaski County, near Northern Elementary School.

Police say that's where a semi was turning onto the highway when it got stuck in a ditch.

As the truck driver was trying to free the truck, he told police he saw a car coming toward his semi.

We are told that car never stopped and slammed into the side of the truck.
The driver died on impact.

Her name has not yet been released.

The road is expected to be closed for a while longer. We have a crew on the scene and will have more info as it becomes available.
