BURLINGTON, Ky. (AP) - A 22-year-old man has been charged in northern Kentucky with two counts of murder and driving under the influence in the deaths of two people in a car wreck.
The Boone County sheriff's department charged 22-year-old Logan Ellis of Nancy, Ky., who turned himself in on Monday, The Kentucky Enquirer reported (http://bit.ly/tnnmqe ).
Ellis was driving south on U.S. 25 in Walton on Saturday morning when he lost control in a curve and hit a utility pole, causing the car to split in two, the newspaper said. One passenger was ejected and the other found in the back seat. Both were dead at the scene.
The two killed were identified as 21-year-old Heather Stanley and 43-year-old Stacy Hopkins of Dry Ridge.
The sheriff's department said excessive speed was a factor.
