Somerset community helping players hurt in crash

SOMERET, Ky (WKYT) - Somerset takes on Shelby Valley in the first night of the post season Friday. Expectations are high for the Somerset Briar Jumpers...but the road to State could have been given a serious detour when players Jacobi Gilmore and Will Hinton were hurt in a crash.

Both players are doing much better but both will be watching the action from the sidelines Friday night.

A dinner was held at Meece Middle School, just one way the community is helping the two boys and their families with mounting medical bills.

“It has been hard. Not being able to walk on my own at all. Can't do much on my own, really. People have to help me. I'll get past it,” said Will Hinton.

“I'm still recovering from fractures in my head....I'm recovering from a seperated shoulder, and two other fractures,” said Jacobi Gilmore.

The high school football career is cover for senior Will Hinton, but he doesn’tt rule out possibly playing in college. Jacobi Gilmore is a sophomore and plans on playing high school ball again.
