Somerset police officers save baby from burning home

SOMERSET, Ky. (WYMT)- A couple of police officers jumped into action to save a baby from a fire.

Somerset Police say a woman called 9-1-1 Tuesday saying she had been burned in a grease fire and made it out of her Bourne Avenue home.

But she said her 1 year old baby was still inside.

Police say officers Derek Flynn and Daniel Lawhorn rushed into the home to rescue the baby who wasn’t injured.

We’re told the mother, Coletta Ayers, 41, was airlifted to UK Hospital to be treated for her burns.
