Teen rescued after falling 100 feet from Lake Cumberland cliff

PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Officials in southern Kentucky worked for several hours to rescue a 13-year-old boy who fell about 100 feet off a cliff Sunday night.

It was around 7:30 p.m. Sunday when officials got the call that a young boy was hiking with his friends in the Bronston area of Lake Cumberland when he fell about 100 feet onto a landing below.

Fire officials tell us that the terrain surrounding the landing made it difficult to immediately remove the boy from the landing but two EMS workers were able to reach him within 20 minutes.

Nearly 15 people formed a make-shift assembly line to help pass the teenager from person to person in order to lift him up the cliff to a safe point.

Officials say that Sunday night's cold and rainy weather did not heavily impact their rescue mission.

We were not told the extent of the teen's injures, but that he is responsive and is expected to be okay.
