The PlayGround Theatre for the Arts, Paperdolls Ladies Boutique, and Carousel Florist are proud to present "Blessed and Beautiful," an inspiring and uplifting fashion show featuring breast cancer survivors in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The event will be held in the Belle Bennett Auditorium at The Bennett Center in London, Kentucky, on Sunday, October 30, 2011, at 2:00 p.m. This event is designed to honor the tremendous courage and strength exhibited by breast cancer survivors, and to pay respects to those we have loved and lost.
“I believe our world needs beauty and refinement. I am passionate about fashion as well as theatre, so it is natural for me to combine the two forms of art,” said Judy House, organizer of the event and owner of Paperdolls. “The beauty of this show, however, is the models – all are breast cancer survivors. It is such an honor and privilege for me to bring these ladies together for a day of recognition, empowerment, and celebration.”
“For us, this is a unique opportunity,” said Heather Dyche, vice-president of the board at The PlayGround Theatre. “This is our chance to highlight the courage, strength, and triumph of local women who have been forced to confront breast cancer.” Brenda Walters, treasurer of The PlayGround Theatre’s board of directors, said, “By using our stage and the local talents of our community, we are able to bring a greater awareness, not only of breast cancer, but also of the beauty and strength of the women who battle this disease.”
Refreshments will be served following the event, and all ladies attending the event will receive a gift bag filled with items donated by the event's sponsors. There will also be a silent auction at the event. Proceeds from the afternoon will benefit both the local chapter of "Look Good, Feel Better," an affiliate of the American Cancer Society dedicated to improving the self-esteem and quality of life for people undergoing treatment for cancer, as well as The PlayGround Theatre. Tickets for the event are $30 each, and are available for sale at PaperDolls Ladies Boutique, Carousel Florist, or from any PlayGround Theatre board member.
