SOMERSET, Ky. (WYMT) - Another Kentucky university has joined the program offering scholarships to Southeastern Kentucky high school students.
University of Louisiville will offer $10,000 or $2,500 per year to current and future graduates of the program that's held each summer at the Center for Rural Development in Somerset.
Scholarship opportunities will be made available to rising and qualifying high school juniors within The Center's 45 county service area.
“With the addition of UofL, 18 colleges and universities in Kentucky and now Tennessee are now offering scholarships to our young people. $7.2 million have been offered to graduates of the Rogers Scholars program over the last 15 years,” U.S. Representative Hal Rogers said.
The Rogers Scholars take part in a one week event at The Center that includes specialized skills and training in a variety of fields.
