Unemployment rate down in most Kentucky counties in September

FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - The Kentucky Office of Employment and
Training is reporting that jobless rates fell in 72 Kentucky
counties in September.
That was a bit of good news in a state that still is struggling
with an overall unemployment rate of nearly 10 percent.
The agency reported Thursday that jobless rates increased in 43
counties and stayed the same in five.
Woodford County fared best with a jobless rate of 7.2 percent,
the lowest in the state. Fayette, Larue, Caldwell, Warren and
Webster counties were all below 8 percent.
Fulton County had the highest unemployment rate at 17.3 percent.
Jackson County and Magoffin County had rates at 16 percent or
higher.
