VERSAILLES, Ky. (WKYT) - A man who entered an Alford plea in a deadly crash learned his punishment on Wednesday morning. A judge sentenced Alfonso Diaz-Diaz to 25 years in prison. He must serve 85% of his sentence before he'll be eligible for parole. That means he'll be in prison for more than 20 years.

Diaz-Diaz entered the Alford plea in June to murder, wanton endangerment and assault in Woodford County. An Alford plea means you don't admit guilt, only that there's enough evidence to convict you. At the start of Wednesday's hearing, Diaz-Diaz tried to withdraw his plea. The judge denied his request.

Police say Diaz-Diaz was under the influence when he crashed into another car on U.S. 60 in Versailles in April 2013. The crash killed five-year-old Blake Cohorn.
